Weekend before last I went to Montana to shoot Mikelle and Waylin's wedding. It was a total blast because I have known Waylin's family for pretty much forever. Their family has always come to Alaska during the summers to set-net out in the bush and would stop by our house for a week or so on the way coming and going.

1. A bridal prep shot:

12. The mom of the groom asked me to do family photos for all her kids and I had a little extra time (:huh). I found the perfect place.

13. The flowergirls were so stinkin' cute. The taller one looks *just* like her mom at that age.

Hugs to mom afterwards.

At the reception, she wanted a couple shots wither her uncle's harley...

(I had the flash a touch too close... whoops.)

Wow, heather. Just wow. That's all.

Between 16 and 17, I prefer 16. The spotlight effect of the flash being too close adds attitude to the scene imho. Also, I like the composition better.

Agree! 16 is better because the background's composition is better (in 17 I wish the sliver of sky in the top right weren't there). The lighting under the trees is delicious! Did you use any flash there? Heather I can't tell from the post, are you Canon? Is it the Canon 35mm you're referring to?

    Wow, very nice!
I agree that 16 is better, and really, really love 18. Please let us know which 35 that lens is.

I like the one with the flash the best. Working that much below ambient its tough to get NO shadow with a single flash/no reflector. I think the one with flash has great pop, and the other is a little washed out. Nice stuff all around. Really like the bouquet shot especially with the decorations.

Like the energizer bunny who keeps going, and going and going... you keep getting better and better and better.

I love your flair shot, and of the motorcycle pictures I like the 1st one better overall, though I love her face in the second one.

Oh prettyness!!! Once again, I can't point at one photo that I'd call my favorite. I love what you got here, just beautiful!!! wings.gif

Out of curiosity, did you have an external flash next to her in #2? I can't see any flashyness, but the light looks soo perfect.

Love #5 (the processing works for me thumb.gif.... although it's always nice to have a "normal" version too)

    #7 (1st glimpse) is perfect!!

#9 (in the orchard) not a fan of heavy vignetting, but this one is awesome!

#11 (groom dipping bride), very, very cute ... I would maybe fix the dry grass spots in once of them

#12 (family) agh, that light is just delicious!! iloveyou.gif

You got some awesome candids (#18, what's up with that yummy light??? Wow!! eek7.gif), and #16 is just ... well ... pure heatherness (= awesome!) :D

Btw. Do you have kubota actions? Try the Sparta & Troy on #16 and ad a little vignette to the ground .... I bet that would look pretttyyyyyy thumb.gif

#16 and #18 are fantastic! I love the strobist action you have going on there in 16. Looks great. I would try the actions Agnieszka recommended...somthing tells me they will elevate 16 to Dgrin competition status(it really is a great shot...I was audibly wowed as is). clap.gif

Yuppers... the Canon 35L (It's my newest lens, and I just spent another afternoon in admiration of it today. It is pretty dang sharp all the way down to 1.8 up close and even 1.4 from a bit of a distance.)

Under the trees: Yes- I used 2 speedlights with shoot through brollys on stands.
    Details:
2a & 2b (bride sitting under tree) the stands were both to camera right, at 45s from her.
In 5 (bride standing under tree) 1 light on camera left
In 12 (family shot) 2 lights at 45s to the subjects at a 1x2 ratio

To Angie about the light on the flowertoss photo: I had 2 strobes with cloud LS on stands at camera left, one closer to the bride one closer to the girls in the back. And was at ISO 1600

    Very cool stuff!
Love 2. A slight crop from the left to get it more out of the center maybe, she looks gorgeous in that shot. Excellent use of light.
5 love the processing, crop is just a smidge tight
    8 10 16 20 love em!

That one with the can and car, very creative, love it.

superb photos. I liked all of them except the orchard box (rings) photo. i liked that one too, but it seemed out of place with relation to the rest.

    thank you for posting!

Motorcycle with pop flash and Mountains in BG! Though I tend to shoot ones like the other one, I like the pop!

And to me the ring shot does fit due to the Grooms choice of attire and the overall theme...from what I can gather.

They're all very lovely, and fun.
