Canada goose exerts dominance?

It is about time for the flying cows to return south! (I like the goose, honest I do, but man do they make a mess of our parks. I guess that is what we deserve for making ideal habitats for them in the middle of our towns and cities - if you build it, they will come.)

Anyhow, the geese were engaging in a great deal of flapping and charging at each other. I suspect they were determining the pecking order for the journey south as many were engaged in displays like the one below and were behaving aggressively towards one another.

So, at long last, the geese were doing something interesting to watch. I sat there looking at that scene above replayed over and over and over again. Some of the geese chased others, and were ripping feathers out when they made contact.
