On Sunday I attended Solway Car Club Autocross Rally which was held in a field at Southerness in the SW Scotland. I took a load of shots and once again using the 40D with 70-200L F4 all at 1/160 and ISO 100. I took a lot of frontal shots because I have been told that the side shots I have taken in the past are not as interesting as the frontals. I found that the majority of the frontal shots I took look stationary and to me not very interesting. I have sent you a mixture of shots for C & C and improvements I can make as I have another venue next Sunday.
Regards
Bob

Why don't we have cool stuff like this in the States?

Nice photos. I think the side shots are just as interesting as the front/quarter shots.

Thanks for looking and replying. There is not a lot to it. A big field with cones set up and after you have walked the course, see who can do it in the fastest time. Then reverse the run. It really is exciting. I am going to another on Sunday which will be quite similar and that is why I was wanting advice on frontal/quarter shots. Hopefully someone will come and give me some advice to sparkle them up if at all possible. I have seen some really excellent and professional frontal/quarter shots in this forum.

    Much better, Bob!

Keepin mind that when you are using a relatively slow shutter speed, frontal shots, or those coming at you or going away, will have the subject blurred. On your "sidways" shots, you've mostly achieved the desired effects in pretty much all of them. Next weekend, perhaps set you camera up so you can switch between say 1/60 for the sidways, and 1/1000 or even greater on the frontals.

    You've been practicing!!!

Did you add artificial blur to these? Look in the rear windows of 2, 8, and 11.

Yes Matt I did add some blur because I just had to get rid of the back ground.
Well Mark, here I go again and I am trying as you well and truly know. I can go to another car rally on Sunday and practice again. I will have to wait until I think it is the 18th Oct to do the horse trials. I will let you know as I have enough on my plate with this lot. I am enjoying it so much.
    Regards

    Hi Mark
That sounds good to me. Yeah but the frontals look as though I have taken them stationary if you know what I mean.
