For this one, I had the tripod as low as possible. The camera was about 8 inches off the ground pointing upwards. It took 2 shots to get the angle right for this shot.

Two whole shots to get it right? bowdown.gif
They really know how to build some beautiful buildings back then.

    Great shot.

Thanks again all, it is most certainly a magnificent building. I was very disappointed as I wanted to take some interior shots however we got to the city just too late as it was closing :(

Heh, Andrew, yup 2 shots. The first one, I simply mounted the camera on the tripod, got the central bar horizontal, pointed it upwards and clicked. Saw the perspective was off, adjusted the camera a touch and took the shot.

    Bit lucky really :)

Here's a B/W conversion done using a simple gradient map.

It might be worth while mentioning that the original shot is an AEB shot out of the camera blended. Technically HDR. It's that image I have converted.

Nice BW conversion. Gotta say I'd go with it over the color.
Very natural looking for an HDR. A plus in my book. :D

Have to admit, I think it has more atmosphere about it than the colour.
