Hoary Marmot

We visited Jasper National Park in the Canadian Rockies a few weeks ago.

We were scrambling around a rocky lateral moraine at Angel Glacier when we came across three hoary marmots. Here are a couple of photos. I really was amazed that they stood still for us to take pictures from close proximity.

Thanks to you both. I've since come to find out that contrary to their much smaller cousins, marmots are not shy around people.
