First Senior portrait

I was asked by my church camp to come down in Mid-October and photograph the camp for promotional purposes. The office manager scheduling my housing down there, asked if I would consider doing her son's Senior portraits while I'm there. She wants them done in the camp in outdoor settings. I guess he is a volunteer fireman as well, so he's bringing one of the trucks for a couple shots.

Does anyone have some tips for me and some suggested poses? I have done portrait work before, but never really felt I had the right equipment to do senior portraits.

Here are a few. Just notify the neighborhood if you are going to do this. On my first senior with a truck we parked in on the street and eventually some lady came and told us what for. She believed her house to be on fire. Outside try to find a shaded spot and find out where your light is coming from and try to turn them on a 45.

Reflectors work wonders and can be cheap if you just don't have the money to invest in a lighting system yet... does help to have a reflector buddy to hold the reflector. :) Be sure to get the 'sunlight/white' type in order to provide your subject with a nice, warm light.

An example of a model shot on a firetruck with a reflector just this past Sunday...

On the reflector deal.....84 lumber has a great 4x8 sheet of insulation foil covered that is dull gayish on one side and very silver on the other. If you cut it in half you've got a great reflector. Only use the silver on overcast days or you will get some funky highlights on the face. Take some goof off and rub the black lettering off of the sheet and your set to go.
