Linda I like the flag idea, I do wish it had a bit more motion or blur. I like the other abstracts too. I have posted some similar to those but with birds in them. I like them but they ave not had much support. I did get some good flag shots but was not happy with the comp on them not enough BG, the motion came through good using in camera options. I like the background for your flag

Thanks. Chris. I just posted a different variation of the flag with some more blur. I was actually hoping to freeze some movement but the wind died down after a while. Oh well.....rolleyes1.gif Tomorrow is another day. :D

I'm not sure about the blur shots, but I thought I'd give them a whirl and see what happens. I did have a lot of fun playing with that technique, though.

#3 is the best Monet for the money :D
Liking #2 of the flags -- colors are crisper. First one feels underexposed.

Monet != (not equal to) Movement, though it is clever to use movement to emulate Monet though, so good job there. thumb.gif

I like the flag better for that reason, and I'm good with the crispness since the ripples imply movement. Bear in mind the topic is movement, not necessarily motion.

Yes that one has more motion and the exposure of BG is better IMO.

Flag shots I think a polarizer would have help in mine

I agree, #2 is the best for the theme
That being said your first Monet shot is very intriguing to me(great title too)
just not too sure how the judges would view it as movement..but I love it!

    Thanks, everyone! thumb.gif

You know, I must have taken about 50 or shots of that flag, over half of which were not usable for this challenge because of vignetting in the left corner. rolleyes1.gif(Watch for vignetting, bracket exposures, watch for vignetting, bracket exposures, watch for vignetting, bracket exposures...:bash Repeat ad naseum....rolleyes1.gif)

nod.gif I think you and Andrew are probably right about that. The concept was to use camera movement to create a composition -- but it might not go over well with the judges. ne_nau.gif

You should do some more work with the monet effect for your portfolio. Like go on a photo shoot after 10 espressos :D You could get some really great jitter effects...
