Hey everyone,

I was back at Salt River Canyon last weekend, and thought I would share a few...

1. Here is one from the top:

2. One from the bottom

3. Another from the bottom.

4. And a wide one from the bottom.

Each of these are stitched together from multiple shots.

I would appreciate constructive criticisms and comments.

Thanks everyone for looking.

Dave

#1 seems a tad over saturated -especially the greens- but I like the other three.

Where is this at on the Salt River? Hwy between Globe and Show Low?

Thanks for the comment on the saturation. I struggle sometimes to know. I think I could tell a little better about the colors if I could make a print rather than look through a monitor - but I do not have a good printer.

You are correct. This is about 45 minutes north from Globe on the way to Show Low. The road drops pretty dramatically into Salt River Canyon so you will know when you get there. At the bottom is a small dirt road that follows the river. This is on the reservation and is very remote.

I have driven though several times but have never had the time to stop and explore. I am also usually in a driving 'zone' doing twice the speed limit on roads like that. Love the curvy Arizona bi-ways. deal.gif

I am going to have to look into exploring that area a bit.

You mean like when you get off of I-40 at Flagstaff to come down into Phoenix..with a 75mph speed limit? lol

Aaron's parents live in Globe, I am going to have to see if I can get him to make a trip up there one time when we are up in that area. Feel free to join Aaron.

Another vote that the saturation needs to be cranked back some.

For me, that first one is great the way it is. Good colors, light, etc.

    thanks
Hey everyone - thanks for the comments. I recalibrated my monitor last night and now I think the color intensity is a little more than what I wanted, particularly for #1 and #3. I will slightly tone down the intensity of #1 and #3.

    I appreciate all your feedback.

    Green Water
I like the color of the water. What causes the green?

I am not sure why the water is green. It is likely the same reason that the water is green at Havasupai - I expect it has something to do with algea.

The water at Salt River is only green in a couple of places - much of the rest of the river that we saw was not green.
