Shots of two flies in the garden. First one is a fairly large muscid Graphomya maculata - almost looks pretty (about 9mm body length). Second one is a Tephritid picture wing fly Chaetostoma curvinerve which also looked quite nice on a top down view but looks rather more vicious from a side view (around 7-8mm body length).

was using my bean pole for the first fly. For the 2nd fly I was holding the leaf/stem the fly was on in my left hand - manipilating it to get a reasonable shooting angle (the fly was on the underside) and resting the lens on the same hand.
All have some focus stacking except the 2nd shot of the first fly
