Do gallery stats count owner visits?

I searched but couldn't find an answer to this, so I apologize a head of time if I missed it.

If I'm logged in and view my own photos, does Smugmug count these as "views?" Likewise, if I select the "Visitor View" link to see the layout as a visitor, will these views be counted?

Thanks.

We don't count hits when you visit your own galleries if you are logged in. We made that change within the last year.

I'm not 100% sure about Visitor View, though I suspect we do count those hits. I'll try and test it sometime today and get back to you.

It's good to know stats are working for some of us.
    Thankyou

Pamela, we've not forgotten! We're still chasing down the bug. I'm sorry that it's taking longer than any of us believed :(

    Stats

I just signed up with SmugMug and am still settings things up. Based on what I'm seeing in the stats, it does seem to be counting owner views. I haven't yet sent any links to the one unlisted gallery I've created thus far but stats displays 300+ views.

Would be very neat to have detailed stats, a la Flickr's (hope it's OK to use that word heremwink.gif )

Your post actually prompted me to test this by viewing one of my unlisted galleries using "visitor view." It indeed does count hits while you are in the "visitor view." The same gallery previously had no hits, even though I've viewed it many times while simply logged in.

Andy, I was just in Owner View, and purposely opened a rarely viewed photo of mine. Sure enough, it was counted in today's stats within a few minutes. In reading the old threads on this topic, everyone at SM said that shouldn't happen. I tried my experiment because I saw that an unlisted file on which I was working showed up as a stat the other day. So is this a bug?

Please try again. I just visited a gallery as owner and visitor (using a 2nd browser, where I was SURE I was logged out). The only hits came from me as visitor.

    Hi, Andy:

    Thanks for your help.

1, I tried it, and although I agree the above happens for me also today, when I was working on photos yesterday, I know I was logged in and they appeared in the stats. I'd attribute it to gremlins yesterday, but if you would please look at my last month's stats, and then under "popularity," you'll see at the bottom of the list, there are three instances of my unlisted SM site files included in the Stats. They are my header files and aren't clickable.

    2. Today, when I logged out and did what you suggested on another browser, I opened four images, and also used the Lightbox once for each image. The Stats that resulted show two "views" for each photo, so out of four views, I now have eight views in the stats. I definitely did NOT do two visits for each photo. Does the Lightbox count as a second visit?

    Thanks for your help.

Andy, please note, in addition to my reply from yesterday, I just checked my stats and hadn't looked at anything else on my site. The unlisted SM header ( .png file) is again showing as a "view." It's not clickable on my pages. Why would that count as a view, and more importantly, how can someone access unlisted files?
I remember reading in a thread from about a couple years ago (can't find it now) that unlisted files were showing up in someone else's stats, but an answer wasn't given then.

    Thank you!
