Shutter release, I am so upset

and my own ignorance! At least I wanted to leave the rainy place to the 20 yr olds anyway. But my shutter release I had for my Rebel, 300D, did not work with the 20D, don't know what my problem was there.

On the other hand, I had thought I could just arrive, read my manual, put my camera on manual, with the shutter release and be set to go in the dark. It didn't work that way, put the lens on manual focus, too. The darn camera still would not do anything, found the bulb setting, still no go..............and there was the shutter release situation..............

And the drunk 20 yr olds: all the beer (I don't drink beer, it upsets my stomach) one could drink, even Bill looked happy. Oh, did I mention the downpour. And the lights were revolving, people were everywhere. Read a manual with revolving lights.

So, we left, and I, you know my temper, dead sober, too, I had a fight with a cop who insisted I could not get my car out until everyone who was coming in, got in. And that was almost 11 PM. And it cost me $20.00 for this fun.

Hey, Angelo, I had my husband's tripod, my husband's extra sturdy tripod, and my monopod. (I should have hit the cop with them. Has anyone noticed that cops are not "friends" anymore. If I weren't such a WASP, I could sue for discrimination.) Being deaf probably doesn't help. Finally I realized that I couldn't read lips with a flashlight in my face. I pointed that out, as nicely as possible with a cop yelling at me, he put the flashlight on his face, and I got out of there.

I am going to shoot birds. I am looking for snowy egrets in particular.

Good luck to the rest of you: read your manuals, BEFORE you leave. I am going to have to NOT sell my long lens, need the extra money the whole thing would cost me, trading lenses, just to buy a shutter release????
After all is said and done, it is the sweet tea.

The cable for the 300d does not work with the 20d.
    I found that out too.
I bought one for the 10d and it works with the 20d and 1dMK2.
    Funny how Canon does things.
Dont let that stop you from selling you lens and getting the 400.
They are not all that expensive.

I don't understand your post either Ginger. I've been away, so I'm sure I missed something relevent.

When were the police your friends? Here in the North East, they are uneducated pompous arseholes on the whole, I'm sure yours are no different. They are just a modern version of Dick Turpin (without the charm of course) and I have no respect or time for them. I'm lucky to still have a valid UK drivers license, when I give this to them they have no idea what to do with it.

Let's face it, it's easier for these people to pick on you (both physically and politically) than someone that looks as though they might be a criminal or terrorist.

she wanted to do nightshots, probably fireworks, paid a sawbuck to get into the joint, and then at the last minute realized that she needs a separate remote trigger for the 20d - the one she had for her old rebel won't do the trick ... and so, as would have happened to me, everything and everyone in my way (except the food table lol3.gif) would have been fair game for my wrath...

rant on, ginger! you go girlie lol3.gif

    Ginger,

This a great rant. I know where you're coming from because I've been
there too. But it doesn't really belong in the accessories forum.

I'm going to move it off to Wide Angle.

Aha, it makes some sense now :D

The best fireworks shots I've taken were at Cooper River Park in NJ using my little ol Canon S1 IS. Those guys have great fireworks (I miss the Philly area) and that cheapy Canon is fantastic for nightime shots.

Your guys on the east coast don't have nothingh on our guys and gals in blue.

Each was well armed with 3 books of tickets, and I feel so much safer now after watching them take care of these dangerous criminals. :D

Not only that but at one time I counted 24 at one intersection. (Cross traffic was blocked off and only motorcycles were alowed on the main street, and speeds were skyrocketing up close to 5 MPH!)
