Very cool. Underside of a music box? How big is it, about 3"?

No, it's quite large, in fact. Pictured is a Symphonion music disk player. The metal disks are about the size of a 78 rpm record, but are played in a music box. The music box is wound-up with the crank on the right, the disk spins, and the music plays as the tuned prongs hit the gaps. The owner of this box could have a collection of disks instead of a music box that played one tune.

I photographed the box at a flea market, but shot straight down on the disk. The owner of the stall really didn't want me moving things around to get a good picture of the box itself.

Interesting.....I've never seen anything like that before. The photo on the box is different.

How much would something like that cost?

They did an episode on those things on How It's Made on the Science Channel.

That is really neat how they make it. Thanks for the link :D

As for the goat cheese -- I noticed they didn't wear gloves handling the cheese headscratch.gif
