I know that my Black Bear posts may be getting old for some ....
But when you live 20-25 minutes from an area full of subjects, what would you do?

More from the Mother Black Bear and her four cubs.......

I have a painting in my bedroom that closely resembles that last shot.....which is priceless.thumb.gif

Bob, notice the color of the fur in the last shot and then look at the others. See that the tone is more natural and lacks that blue cast that the others exhibit? You didn't do anything to cause this...it's a sensor thing in low light that I've noticed and learned to soften or even eliminate in my own shots. As long as there is no other blue somewhere else in the shot that you want or need, then just desaturate the blue and sometimes increase it's luminosity. Otherwise, you will have select just the area that contains the fur and do the same.

    I like number 4...very cute.

How did you manage to get so close to a mother bear and her cubs? Sounds a little scary to me!

Love all your bear shots. As many times as we have been to Gatlinburg we have never seen a single bear. Great series. I enjoy seeing your post

Ric - Thanks so very much ... I really appreciate your tips and advice. thumb.gif

Neil - The bear in Cades Cove are typically in the trees this time of year feeding on acorns (it was cherries a few weeks ago) They will stay in one tree all day at times. The Rangers try to enforce a "50 yard" rule, of course there are some folks that feel the need to place their cell phone camera in a bear's face!

rhondavid - Thanks for the kind words

Love, love, love, love these portraits! iloveyou.gif

You're so lucky -- I'd love to have a bear experience like this.

Agree with Ric on the color cast. Fix that, and you have some wall hangers here. thumb.gif
