I am looking for recommendations for a mono/uni pod. I need something that (1) can fit into my saddlebags or tank bag, (2) expands long enough so that I can take pictures standing up, and (3) has a swivel head.

Links please, and personal testimony.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

    Size of your bags...
What would be the maximum length the bags might fit?

Have you thought about a Gorillapod or RAM Mount and using your motorcycle as the base? I have used both successfully. Well it was P&S with the timer, but they were stable. The RAM mount even let me take shots while riding.

I was able to find a "house brand" at Ritz camera that fit in the top case of my motorcycle. Since it says Ritz on it I am not sure the real maker. I picked it by simply riding my motorcycle to the store and bringing in the top case.

Important info, without knowing if you're putting a monopod in a hard bag of a Road King or in a travel bag on something like a sport bike, it's hard to recommend anything.
On a scale of 1 to 10, my awesomeness goes all the way to 11.

Look at the Manfrotto 709. It's not going to expand to full height, but you can rest it on something other than the ground. Plus it's small and well built. I use it for a 30D and 70-200 2.8 with acceptable results. You have to be careful with lenses that large though.

I've no experience with it but it seems the Gitzo GM5561T would suit your needs, 16.3" closed/61.2" opened.
