Opinions: Ibises or Ibises?

I'm not even sure that's how you pluralize Ibis.
Thinking quick, at least as quik as I can, I went for the siloette shot on this flight of Glossy Ibises but did get it quite right. The body blacked out but the glossy wings did not. That, in my opinion was a lucky mistake. Otherwise it would be just another siloette.
The first one has an interesting background with all that gold across the top. I've thought about PSing away the leftmost bird and reframing.
The second shot had these great reflections but otherwise the background was a bore. I went with the more traditional siloette but left the wing gloss and some water ripples on the bottom. I have toyed with the idea of making a vivid color background or two color gradient but haven't been pleased with the results.
Preferences? Opinions? Advice?

In the first one the ibises don't use the space enough and the background is kinda distracting.
In the second there's a good balance and a painting like feeling I really like.

Your comment surprises me but I understand what you are saying. The "space" issue in the first is a problem and I don't think it can be solved. If I crop out the left bird I will lose that wonderful gold up top. The result would be pretty boring compared to the reflections in #2. Of course, my wife loves #1 and has no interest in #2 at all.
