Decided to try a self portrait once again. It was taken with my Nikon Coolpix and edited with Microsoft Photo Editor. Critique welcome. I realize the cropping is really bad, but that was how the originally photo was, so yeah.

    gorgeous eyes though… thumb.gif

(actually could do with a teeny bit more reflected light in the left eye…)

(pic ever so slightly too red…)

Here you go: tweaked the eyes & skin, took some red out…
(BTW what's the white thingy in your hair? I was going to take it out as there's no texture in it, and it looks almost like a mark on the negative (from the days of film, dear…) - then I thought it might have been intentional… ne_nau.gif ) - if you don't like it, I'll remove it… (is there an echo in here????)

    - Wil

PS: Just took a look at the other two pics:

Hmmm… no and no… (I find the first one to be much better!)

OK, the funny white thingy is in both of the other pics and I wondered if it was in the camera. In the first picture the hair is behind it (which made me thing it was in your hair), but in the other two pictures, it's still there, but in those it looks like a mark on the wall…

    I'm totally confused… headscratch.gif

That white thing is dappled light.

I kinda like the second one ....

The one detractor I see is the cord cutting across your face - I'm not sure it's adding anything to the image. But, I like the expression here so much more than the others.

Looked at all three, my vote is for the first one. I like the look you're giving there and it's a nice angle. Checked out your previous self portraits...definately improving. I'm not even sure if editing the pic was required (ohter then the strange white thing). When I look at the edited photo I'm not left say, "oh yeah, that's way better".

Just wanted to say you're a beautiful young lady. I'm a novice photographer so I can't comment on the technicalities of the photo.

If your Dad waches this forum, maybe this will help!

When I first started photography, I got a D40, and I loved it so much that I am now on the road to make it a career. It was a very GOOD investment, and I had lots of fun with it! The D40 x is not expensive either! :Dwings.gifrofl

If you get it for your B-Day, let me now, I will congratulate you!rolleyes1.gif

Definite potential raingirl...SPs are always very tough to do. Search you tube for online video tutorials on portrait retouching or join some other online training sites like kelbytraining.com.
