I got these at an Aerobatics Competition today. All I have done is cropped and posted them, but I'm not sure how much better they could get... it was a distant shot.
Of course, now that I have these, I shouldn't have even looked at everyone else's work so far... (sigh). Very good work!

I like #1 best-- the vapor trail gives it more context, if that makes sense.

I agree with Mark. The 1st is the best. You can really tell that the plane is actually "flying" upside down in the second crop. Just looks like you flipped the picture. Does that make sense.

I also like how the vapor trail leads the eye to the plane. Nice.

    +1 on #1.
Would have been nice to have some ground reference for the upside down, but the angle and vapor trail help on that front.

Cool shots! I also like #1 best. I agree that it might help to have some other reference.

If you had seen the ground you wouldn't be able to see the plane. :)

yes, I knew that the upside down planes were so-so, just for the fact that only I know for sure that they were upside down... (and the pilots and spectators I guess)
These were close to being right over me to be able to get the detail and closeness... I have tons of "dots in the sky" too, but that doesn't help. Oh, and lousy camera shot video... but it is fun.
I also felt like #1 was the better of the two. I'm still looking. Thanks for the input!!

    Hey Donna,

I hear ya about these aerobatic planes looking like dots in the sky. rolleyes1.gif When I was at that little airport near where I live and snagged that photo for the previous challenge of a Stearman taking off there was someone waaaayyyy high up practicing aerobatics. I took a few shots of him and even with a zoom he looked like a dot.

#1 also appeals to me the most. I like how you framed the shot and capturing that vapor trail was a nice bonus. thumb.gif
