HS Field Hockey
I think I have the exclusive on FH on this board. :wink
I know there's not a great following, but my kids/wife love FH, so I now do too. Finally was able to get out for a few days, and here are some.
C & C always welcome.

The last shot is really good as well. Good eye for seeing stuff like that. Some sports shooters tend to miss that type of stuff. It's just too bad the focus starts getting soft on the girl on the left.
Lots of good expressions in the third shot. Is this full frame or is it cropped down? If you had a bit more room to keep from chopping off background heads I think it would work better
Second shot is another nice action capture. Shame you can't see their eyes!
First shot is nice but it feels flat compared to the others... the jerseys aren't as bright.
It really is a terrible field. What's funny is that I was thinking how much better it looks in the pictures. If you think it is bad in these shots--you should see it in person.
Thanks--The penalty corner thing in FH is pretty unique, where the defenders have to wait in the goal until the ball is put in play. I'm using a Sigma 50-500 wide open, from the sideline--so about 20-30 yards away. The goal is about 12 feet wide, and the girls line up from side to side. The DOF isn't enough to get them all. The background is so ugly, I don't want to have it any more in focus than absolutely necessary.
It is pretty much full frame. I had the original about 2 or 3 degrees tilted to the right (and it could probably still go a degree to the left)--so the only cropping was done after rotating the image just to trim the edges. I actually thought about cropping this one closer, but I've been having some issues with customer's incompatible print sizes if I crop too close.
Good point. In FH, I have to really fight to just catch their face since they are usually looking down. Even if the face is up, the eyes are usually looking down, which I think makes the eyelids come down a bit. Not sure what else to do other than being a bit more selective on which are the "keeper" shots.
I see it now that you mention it. THe day varied from bright sun to cloudy--and this one was during a cloudy spot. I think a little nudge with levels should help
