Honeymoon - Part 2 - Glacier Bay National Park & Skagway
Well, the chilliness and the spectacular scenery continued....
Our next "stop" was Glacier Bay National Park.
Like College Fjord, the ship never stopped and disembarked passengers, but instead cruised around specific inlets. Because we were traveling through a National Park, the NPS ferried their rangers onboard:
As we approached GB, we were treated to spectacular views of the Fairweather Mountain Range:
Take a look at the scale with the large cruise ship in the foreground:
I had some great glacier photos which do not seem to be on Smugmug, so I'll edit and post them later.
We then headed to our first port of call, Skagway, Alaska. Skagway was a port town that received many of the gold-rushers. People would load up on supplies and provisions and hike to the Canadian border. Because Canada did not want starving/dying gold rushers, they required that people have 6 months (I think) of provisions prior to crossing. This meant, gold rushers had to take long hikes back and forth to the Canadian border stacking up their provisions.
We had two excursions. The first was a train ride to the Canadian border (the train was not constructed until the main part of the gold rush had passed).
Me and my better half:
I have a few more from this part too I have to add later.
Our second excursion was a bake ride (almost all downhill) from the Canadian border to the coast.
I liked this unintentional effect:
Snow train-
The cruise ships were lined up. There were three or four there at the same time.
I should note that Emily is very patient with my photography. She spends longer at a lot at various places to indulge me. So even though you will not see this Emily, thank you.

Marjorie Glacier is about 24 stories tall.
They turned the ship around in front of the glacier so everyone was able to get a view:

I really like your photo of the Fairweather Range with the light shining on top of the clouds.
