Format Changing When Browser Tabbed

Any reason why the format of my gallery changes when my browser (Firefox 3) is tabbed vs not?

When I have only one tab open, the gallery does not fit properly, and I have to scroll to get all the images presented.

No Tab



But when I open a tab, the page resizes properly. Additionally, columns go from 3 to 5.

Nothing else is done. Any ideas?

The presence of the tab bar changes your viewable area size slightly, so the auto-fit routine is choosing a smaller picture.

If it really bothers you, you can make the tab bar visible at all times.

The space for the tabs makes the vertical space in the browser window a bit smaller.

The smugmug view adjusts it's size automatically based on the size of the viewable space inside the browser window. Since the main image is available only in discrete sizes, the layout changes size in jumps as the window is made smaller or larger. Adding the tabs makes it just enough smaller that it that it changes the layout.

Thanks for the replies. My question then becomes how come this gallery is the only that has this reaction? All my other galleries resizes to fit properly, tabbed or not tabbed.

I don't know what's different about it. If you include a link that that gallery, we could take a look.

They just look like different themes with slightly different sizing on screen for the stuff around the photos. That probably causes a slightly different trigger point for when the browser window size causes a switch to a different image size. Both look like they are working as predicted for resizing the page as the browser window size is changed.
