Fleeting Clouds

I took the dog out the other night and while waiting for her to do her thing, I glanced up. A thunderstorm had just rolled through, so there were left over broken clouds that were low and fast. I went back inside, grabbed my tripod, camera and remote shutter release.

36 sec bulb exposure, ISO 200, 14-54II @ 14mm, f/2.8

Wow. Very pretty, and you timed that exposure very well; the gap where the stars shine through adds a lot.

Compositionally, I think I might have liked this a little better without the trees going all the way up the right-hand side; they constrict the sky a bit much for my taste. Good thing there wasn't a wind at tree level, though, because the sharpness of the trees balances the motion blur of the clouds nicely.

That's a tough choice... I do think that the focal point is the changing sky and that should occupy most of the frame. However, I do like how sharp the tree leaves are contrasted with the moving clouds. Everytime I do a shot like this the wind seems to ruin the trees!

Very good thumb.gif Taking the dog out brings many surprises. Took mine out the other day and there was a woodpecker in the yard. Had to run back in to get my camera.

Fairly awesome. thumb.gif I was taken with the photo to start with.
Changing... like was suggested for take 2 certainly gives more
majesty to the sky. Still I lean more to take 1. Now your down to
splitting hairs. Its that kind of shot you have here that can do that to ya.
The sky value by itself, for me, would be lovely with no trees at all... its that
strong. But I also highly go for foreground interest when ever it adds
strength. Which I find to be most of the time but still remains a depends
    thing.
Your going to have to toss your own coin with this beauty. mwink.gif
