SD Card speed

Realising the 2 gig cards are just too small I'm going to get some new, larger cards. However, there is quite a big difference in price based on the speed of the card. Using D90, will I get any benefit from the faster, more expensive cards?

I encourage you to disregard the manufacturer ratings. The only thing that matters is card speeds in your camera, and the only site currently measuring transfer speeds from specific camera to specific card is at Rob Galbraith. Here are the D90 tests:

Kind of piggybacking onto this question, how important is the download speed in the real world?

I'd think that if you're not maxing out your frames per second in a sports shoot or something the camera is going to be OK transfering to the card. The speed is a big deal for transfering lots of images from the card to the computer, though, right?

I just bought the new D300s. I'm still out to lunch on it's performance as I can't quite get it dialed into where my old 300 was. The 300 used a CF card, and the 300s uses both the CF and the SD. I

I am now however, using a 32GB HCSD card as opposed to a 16GB CF card. You need it with the added video capbilities, but man.......what a pain uploading from the camera, or a reader to the computer!!!

There's nothing I hate worse than having to sit and wait for 30-45 min. for data to load before looking at the pics. (and average 2 hour event I usually shoot 200-300 RAW pics and now, add 20 min of video to that!)

FireWire was suppose to be faster than the standard USB and the old Fuji S2s and S3s had a firewire connector on em. I don't see ANYONE using firewire anymore though...

I don't see Firewire/IEEE 1394 in use on cameras anymore but you can still find card readers using the technology. It's also important to use UDMA capable readers as appropriate.
