    Congratulations :ivar

Having "grown up through" the xxD line, I'll be interested in any thoughts you might have comparing the 5DI with with the 5DII - just a curiosity thing.

    Scott,

I have both the 5D and 5D II. I had a budgeted for a 5D II, but was holding off, but when I ended up with a photo shoot and my 5D's mirror took a dive I went ahead and bought the 5D II.

I really didn't think I would be impressed. I din't tink the image quality over the 5D would be significant, but I was wrong.

The increased high ISO image quality is very noticeable, as well as the ability to crop the image while maintaining plenty of pixels for print.

The large LCD is really great, the color seems better, the feel seems nicer. For some strange reason (I don't shoot a lot of jpg) but the jpg's just flat look better? The over all quality is very good.

I tried the video and I might just learn to use that.

I don't know how to articulate all the things I like about the 5D II, but if it's within your budget I would recommend getting one. You won't be disappointed.

    Sam

Sam, I already have one and I love it. But, never having even held a 5DI, I was curious about the comparison between the "classic" and the Mark II. You've pretty much answered all my questions. Thanks: thumb.gif

FWIW, I iloveyou.gifiloveyou.gifiloveyou.gif my 5DII - my keeper rate with this camera is about twice what I was getting with a xxD body. Can't explain why really, it just is....

Of course there will be something new and amazing released next year. And, if not next year, it will be the year after that. You can't wait for that camera that might be coming around the corner. If there's a camera out there that does what you need and your current equipment doesn't, now is the time to get it. You can play the waiting game until the cows come home and never get the equipment you need. If you need/want it now, buy it and don't look back.
