Hi,
(I am a newbie and also a subscriber to smugmug.com)

I was just reading a local computer magazine and I came across the comparison for online pic sharing and smugmug.com was being mentioned for online sharing:

"Sharing your digital pictures online"

(to read the complete story)

here's some of the paragraphs:
===============================================
SmugMug (www.smugmug.com)
Father and son operated SmugMug has received rave reviews from both the media and serious photographers. It’s one of the most full-featured digital photo sharing services available, providing deep functionality accompanied by outstanding support.

It’s also the most expensive service evaluated. There are no free memberships, and fees range from US$29.95 (about $37) for amateurs all the way up to $99.95 (about $125) for professionals.

But boy, do you get what you pay for. The cheapest membership provides unlimited photo storage (and, unlike many other photo sharing sites, your photos will never be deleted for lack of account activity) along with virtually unlimited traffic to your galleries. SmugMug wants users to think of the service as a permanent repository for all of their digital photos, and it all but guarantees that your photos will never, ever be lost or removed. They even provide a CD-ROM and DVD-ROM backup service for more paranoid users.

SmugMug galleries feature an enormous amount of customization options. Users can control each gallery’s visual style, place watermarks on photos, disable right click “save image as” functionality to protect their photos, and choose whether or not to automatically display camera information. You can monitor traffic to track your most popular images, and request to be notified by email whenever someone comments on a picture or gallery.

Serious photographers can join usergroups and participate in community forums, and professional users can even sell images from their galleries, posting their own prices with SmugMug facilitating transactions for a small commission.

SmugMug provides an affordable and multifaceted print ordering service through a professional printmaker chosen by the service’s discerning membership. It’s also one of the few photo sharing sites to allow its members to store and share video files (limited to 8MB).
