Have asked it to crawl and in the sitemaps it has red 'X's under status
So you can submit your sitemaps or wait for google to get them from us.

It is superb with the new sitemap-files.
However, I deleted some keywords more than a week ago, and the sitemap files are still not updated.
Do I have to do something special to update my sitemap, or it is a known bug?
My Sitemap file is http://lichtenhansen.smugmug.com/sitemap-base.xml
Keep up the good work.

I know, that I can re-summit my sitemap file anytime, but my sitemap file is not updated.
My question is: How do I update my sitemap file to reflect my actual site?
I deleted and added some keywords more than a week ago, but these changes are not in my sitemap: http://lichtenhansen.smugmug.com/sitemap-base.xml

You can wait, or simply manually resubmit it in Google webmaster tools

We don't control it - but you can submit the sitemap-base.xml file manually in webmaster controls if you wish.

I deleted the keywords adeliae, adelie, adelie penguin, adult, agressive etc. more than 3 weeks ago. Those keywords are still present in the sitemap file.

It'll take more time and there's no timeline for when sitemaps are updated. Our system updates them as fast as possible without causing any negative effect from search engines for submitting too many sitemaps too fast. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Thanks a lot for an honest answer.
However, this is a rather bad solution.
The idea of a sitemap is to tell Google which of your pages are important.
Most of the URL’s in my sitemap files no longer exists.
I suggest that you update the sitemap files much more often (real time or at least daily)
Submitting a sitemap is only relevant, if your sitemap files are updated in real time and want the latest changes indexed ASAP by Google.
Google download my sitemap files about once every week (without being submitted)
You could easily drop the submitting with the current sitemap update rate.

I'd like to send my sitemap to Google too (www.imaginevenice.com) but , please bear with my ignorance, where should I find it? I looked in my source page but couldn't find it, or, at least, I probably don't know where to look at between all those lines of text
