Howdy All,

One from the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia.

What a treat to see her, one of those rare moments that you never forget.

That is a moment you'll never forget. My dream was to get a good photo of a Moose. Tried all last year, but didn't get a good one. Saw one tho and that made my day :D

Lucky you....to see it and get a good photo thumb.gif

    Hi Craig,

Very nice shot. This one appears to be resting. I've heard, though, that they can be unpredictable and, therefore, dangerous. The ones I've seen while in the Rockies were at some distance from me. How close were you to this one?

    Welcome back,

    Tom
I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.

    Howdy Mary Kim,

Thanks, we were so excited, and even more excited when on our way back we heard that her calf had joined her. Sure enough the calf was laying there beside her, but basically hard to get a good shot.

    Howdy Tom,

She was laying down for the day I think, they had been eating all around probably for hours as we'd seen tracks and mudded areas all around the small trail.

We'd learned from our Expedition Guide in the Tetons that Moose are one of the most dangerous because people perceive them as clumsy and slow. He said they were so dangerous because they were fast and the joints in their legs allowed them to kick straight out to the side which I guess is one of the only animals that can do that. We'd been told that if we did see Moose in this area that they were pretty docile due to all the exposure to People, but to give them plenty of room and respect their habitat and space, which we certainly did.

She was just about 50' or less off the little main trail.
    Take care,

    Craig

    Hi Craig,

Great find! I like how the rust color vegetation puts focus on the moose.

Very nice capture of nature Craig thumb.gif

After literally missing a bull moose by inches in a van years back in Yellowstone, and seeing the "path" that huge critter made running through the woods, busting trees like toothpicks, I've given wide berth to the Moose that I normally see on the SW side of RMNP, CO. Glad you were camera ready for the capture, I never have been.

Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia. Hope we get to see a bunch of these images :D

    Howdy Randy,

Their size is just unbelievable, this female even laying down was really large, glad they were used to people there, although we didn't push her at all.

Still working on the pics, it usually takes me a while to get them all done.

Wow, an IR moose -- there's something you don't see every day. eek7.gif

I had a moose cross my trail once while hiking in Maine. Shocking how big these animals are when you stumble upon them in person. eek7.gif

Cool shot, Craig. Looking forward to seeing more photos from your trip.

Thanks very much, we were just so excited to see her, then had a bigger treat on the way back when her Calf had joined her.

    Howdy Joel,

    I've been working on the other shots, but am pretty slow with post processing, and having 2130 color shots and 1126 IR's there's a few to go through<img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/mwink.gif" border="0" alt="" > <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/mwink.gif" border="0" alt="" > <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/mwink.gif" border="0" alt="" >

    Howdy Michael,

Thank you very much, definitely one of my favorites.

I've kind of cropped this one, might post the full version, it has a little sky in it.

    Thanks again.

Of course we would like to see sky if you feel it adds more than the
beauty you got dialed in now. :D If it doesn't work out for us though. mwink.gif
