I got a chance to watch the elk rut in RMNP a couple of weekends ago. What an amazing experience!!

(This is a somewhat uncommon but no less effective bull elk intimidation tactic).

Very impressive animals, must have been quite a sight. I wasn't sure if he was sticking his tongue out at you or another elk in #3.

Because many people don't know this, but the elk sticking out his tongue is actually trying to "taste" a cow. He is rutting and can scent them by doing that. It is actually very cool how smart these animals are and how adaptive they are to humans hanging out in their backyards!

Beautiful shots. There's no way my husband would allow me to pal around with him during archery season to shoot photos. Would love to tho!

God made two great lights; the sun to rule by day and the moon to rule by night. He also made the stars.
And He set them all in the heavens to give light upon the earth; And God saw that it was good.

Ive seen the light and it is indeed very good
