CS4 and the Cores???

I think this is a simple question but maybe not.

I'll be upgrading my hardware next month when Win7 goes RTM. I haven't decided on dual core vs quad core. I plan to work on RAW files from my 450D and possibly convert to .tiff instead of directly to .jpg. Obviously, that calls for mucho processor power.

I'd like to know your experience with CS4 on a dual core machine. Is it responsive? Assuming either 4 or 6 GB DDR Ram, is there really a benefit to quad core? Can CS4 even address multiple processors?

Those of you using either quad or dual, please let me know your real world experience.

Thanks.

    I suggest Core i7...64bit OS...12gb ram.

Dual core will do the job until you start using those filters in PS.

Ability to access more memory with a 64 bit OS is most important...from my experience.

    Thanks Rick.

    Does CS4 support 64 bit?

    Thanks Rick.

    Does CS4 support 64 bit?

It was written for 64 bit!

If you install the 64 bit version, you will actually have both the 64 and 32 bit versions installed. Not all filters and plugins work in 64 bit mode. So...edit/convert raw and do any tonal changes in 64 bit....save as a .tif and reopen in 32 bit for all other enhancements.
