Went to Yellowstone for the first time last week. I need to go back. It was awesome! We got lucky and saw this bear.

Awesome. You got a pretty clean shot at him too. Lucky you!

Nice shot…on the first visit too! I'm jealous! I've been to Yosemite a zillion times and only seen one bear (my wife's seen three). I must be going to the wrong park. rolleyes1.gif

Did you do any post-processing on the picture? I noticed the ground on the left edge of the picture, along the bear's side, appears a bit bright (hot?). Tweaking the highlights showed some other areas benefitted as well (slightly more detail is brought out in the brush by the bear's head…for example).

    Thanks for sharing the picture.

The only PP I did on the shot was a little adjustment brush action on his head to bring out some detail in his face. He is really black. You are right it does seem a bit hot. I will try toning the brights down and see how it looks.

I think I fixed it. Looking at the file it looked as if I had bumped the highlight slider to the right. Not sure what I was going for with it. Maybe looking at the hair zoomed way in on the bear and didn't look at the whole picture when I was done? I like it better now.
