Sorry but the lighting is flat and the focus is off. Most of the shots are great captures and I love #3 but just need more light and sharper focus.

    Question
These were shot wide open, lacked dof. What aperture do you typically use for subject clarity and to drop out details in backdrop?

5.6 works for me for one subject, 8 for more. But, it all depends on how far you've got them from that background and how far back you are. What are you using for lighting?

Cute kiddos!! I think you did a great job for your first go. Personally, I have not delved into studio lighting yet--seems so daunting (I'm an available light shooter at the moment). I'm sure you'll get some great advice here! Welcome!

Good job on your first shots. I agree, the first two are lit well, but the last two could be a bit brighter. It can be brought out in post. but overall nice job!

    A little post work, thanks
OK, got it on the aperture, thanks for the suggestions. I tend to darken some times so I used "auto exposure" on Aperture to adjust the brightness and increased the black point slightly to eliminate the texture and folds on the backdrop.

The lighting is all from Nikon strobes models above with light modification.

    Thanks again,

These are lookin' MUCH better... The "pop" factor has been raised substantially!
IMHO you need to drop the last shot... the oof just can't be over-looked.

Very nice for just gettin' up-n-goin'!

    Thanks for the C & C
Yup, the 3 some is OOF, f2.8, aperture priority...

Going to try some more tonight with the right DOF.
