Any way to recover lost files?

I'm not sure if this goes here, I'm sorry if I'm in the wrong area.

I'm still very much an amateur photographer, working to improve by shooting minor events just for fun and experience. I encountered a big problem for the first time today - I shot a high school soccer game and a few other games and events this week. I haven't had a second of spare time to offload my camera, and in the three years of using my Canon Digital Rebel with this same card/computer/card reader setup, I've never lost anything.

I plugged my card in today, and OH NO, probably 3/4 of what was on the card was just gone. About 300 photos from today's game were still there and intact, but the rest were nowhere to be found. I ran several recovery programs and it managed to dig up two year old photos and two month old photos, but nothing from this week.

Is there ANY possible "miracle" solution that somebody could point me toward? I'd be forever grateful if somebody can point me in the right direction.

Zero Assumption Recovery (ZAR) - now at version 8.4.

    http://www.z-a-recovery.com/download.htm

    From their download page:
In digital image recovery mode program operates as freeware with no functional limitations. List of known compatible digital camera models and image formats is available Known camera compatibility list here
So, if you are trying to recover images then you do not have to buy the license.

This software has been mentioned on DGrin several times, and I used version 8.3 with success recovering images from a CF Card.
