Online photography schools?

My wife is looking for a good school to get her started with her new found hobby. The nearest college with photography classes if an hour and half away. Does anyone have some suggestions on where she can get a cheap structured program online to teach her the basics? She likes taking pictures of people, shoots family portraits for friends and even has a wedding to shoot this month.

People like her work and she would like to charge for her services but doesn't feel right doing it with out a little background training... that, and she wants to improve.

Suggestions?
