I need to have an optical trigger fire a pc sync and I'm looking to see if anyone knows of one.

Basically I want to hook a point and shoot to a pocket wizard.

If the p&s has a shoe mount, you're good. But since you asked the question, I'm guess it doesn't :D

I wonder if you could use the remote trigger for a Canon or Nikon flash to do what you want?

    Try this site
he might just have something that will work for you, as he carries all things flash related:

Also, he (Lon) is very good at answering any questions you might have. I have no affiliation, other than being a satisfied customer.

Your P&S does have a built in flash, right?

How much distance will you have between your camera and the flash you want to trigger off camera?

Some of Wein's slave are very sensitive, evenout of doors. You might just get by with an optical only trigger, unless you really need to reach of a PW.

I think the PW can probably be triggered by a Peanut slave, but that is just a guess, never actually have tried it.

Sorry for the slow response I was away last week. My flashes have optical slave but I prefer radio so others don't interfere.

Maybe I can take the output of the peanut and feed it into the radio. Err sorry I see you said that. I'll give it a try.

The cheapest option I can think of is to cover the built-in flash with an IR-pass filter and use that to trigger optical slaves. The idea is that the IR part emitted by the flash is visible to the slaves, but not to the camera.

(assuming the flash can be set to not fire a metering pre-flash or the slaves can be set to ignore it.. or that the slaves can fire twice :D )
    Creativity's hard.
