DSS #35 C&C please!

Ok, so I was down at my parents farm earlier in the week. I thought for sure I wouldn't find anything blue. Well, I found tons of stuff and had a lot of different ideas. Let me know what you think.

    How can you not pick #1 ? Great choice for blue, and great image idea on its own.

    Yeah, that is what my husband said too, but I wanted to give a few options even if it is my favorite. I feel that this may be my best shot ever. I also want to thank the over cast sky for giving a great cloud cover as well.

    Netter,
    Great selection.
    Although I like the "hard at work shot" the upside down jeans were in the finalists last week, so maybe too similar?

    I like the "retired" very much--it's missing a little something though--but great title, color etc.

    I'm with Andrew though, I think it has to be 1--it's a different blue than the others we are seeing. I like the comp and the story--I think you have to go with that one.
    So mark another vovte for #1.

    Any image that makes you think and feel is stars and stripes above others that are just documentary.

    Am I the only one that cringes at what seems to be an American flag on the ground? It looks like clouds in the background though, so maybe it's on a monument that has weeds and grass on it?

    I totally thought of that, I placed something underneath it to prevent it being on the ground, it is just not seen in the picture. It is the foot stone (which states what branch of service he was in and that he served in WWII) to my grandpa's grave.

    I just wanted to clarify - It's not that I don't appreciate all that the first image is about, I do appreciate it very much. What I meant was that just in terms of straight-up emotionless objective viewing, I prefer the blue jeans.

    I was thinking about it after I had posted my comment, and I realized that it * could * be taken as disrespectful, and that's not at all what I was going for, so I apologize if anyone was offended in any way.

    Your feeling a need to come back and explain yourself is a very good example of how much emotion and power that image has. Personally I was not offended by your preference at all.

    Same here, not offended at all. That is why I put up several choices. I wanted to get opinions on what people thought. Plus, my dad is getting a kick out of someone liking a photo of him standing next to his new bin.mwink.gif Just because I think something is a good pic doesn't mean that anyone else will think the same. I have come to realize in these competitions, it really amazes me what wins. Good and bad, again, what I think doesn't always coincide with the popular vote. Thus the reason for asking for opinions.
