A hell of a place to lose a cow

I just returned from an awesome two week road trip through Yellowstone/Grand Teton (1.5 weeks), Zion (one night), and Death Valley (3 nights), which is why I've been absent.

But before I even process those photos (it's going to take forever) I figured I should post the last shots of my southwest trip from one night at Bryce Canyon (I forgot to post these originally).

#1: These three guys are right next to Thor's Hammer, so I called them The Nails:

Nice series. I like the silhouette shot, very cool. I learned that cow reference years ago.

Thanks - unfortunately no. This shot was pretty wide, I would have had to do two panos one for the top and another for the bottom, and I have a hard enough time keeping the horizon level with a single pano :D

This would definitely be a good spot for a pano though.

Ron, the last one is breathtaking! There are so many photos of Bryce out there and you took one that is so fresh and new.

Super work as always Ron. clap.gifclap.gif Can't wait to see your Yellostone shots.

By the way Ron, next years dgrin 2010 shootout will be Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. Any chance you might want to go back with us all by then?

Sure, it's only a ten hour drive to Yellowstone from Seattle (750 miles or so). What time of year? Early summer (wildflowers, bison/elk calves) or or early autumn (fall colors, elk rut, etc.) are the best.

That might work, it's possible that the colors will peak before that (they didn't this year, peak was around the first of October for the aspens near Oxbow), there was snow the previous few days which was *awesome* especially in Yellowstone. This is definitely a possibility, I look forward to the details.
