  • When clicking on any photo thumbnail in View modes "Traditional" or "All Thumbs", the size Original will appear or be available (despite setting on gallery to not allow Original size)
  • Checked various galleries of mine, in 2 browsers, to confirm - tried not logged in, or logged in using "visitor view", and it happened with both. This error did not occur in "Smugmug view".
  • http://mosso.smugmug.com/All-Breed-Dog-Show (for example)
  • Win98, using latest Firefox and latest (both browsers)
I never noticed this happening before the downtime last week, if knowing that is helpful.

Is this a bug? (or operator error?) thanks
Stir

Are you sure it is the original and not just the largest size available which
happens to be the same size as the original?

I think I am seeing the Original size (though a few times, clicking O brought up Large size unless clicked again, when it brought up a humongo sized image).

However, "O" is certainly available as an option, when it clearly should not be. (I'm assuming that you checked it out and also found this to be so)

Furthermore, I checked out my friend's benitoafs.smugmug.com and found the same issue with her galleries (size "O" available but she did not enable "O"). She noted the same as I.

Are you seeing this in the single image view of the photo? Or one of the other viewing styes. The O is there as a preferred size but it is not the display size so it is misleading. Even if you prefer to see the original, we will only display the size selected in the gallery settings.

If you can show me specific examples, I will be happy to check.

    Hey docwalker-

    http://mosso.smugmug.com/All-Breed-Dog-Show/Devon-2009-10-3-Ludwigs-Corner/9887898_87tAW/1/673562961_4NGzF/Original

Indeed, it is pulling up the Original (as it loads, the status bar for my browser gives the URL for the Original, for instance), and I can click L, and get a smaller size, click M, get a still smaller size, etc.

To repeat from my original post, this is happening in "Traditional" and "All Thumbs" view.

I'm not really sure what further information I can give regarding this issue. When we report a bug like this, what is the next step? (who looks at it to decide if it's a bug?)

    thanks guys, stir

Nothing really. I take it from there unless I need more details.

    HA! :)

ok I looked at your gallery (docwalker.smugmug.com) in traditional view, and even though the URL says ...Original the size (as defined in pixels below the image) is NOT the same in size as your Original image.

    http://www.docwalkersphotography.com/Scottish-Foundation-of-the/Scottish-Foundation-of-the/Radford-Highland-Festival-2007/3645806_Bm7BD/1/207973558_AZwbr/Original

So, let me get this right - it says O, let's you click on O, the Url says it's O, but it ain't?

(very scary that this is sorta making sense now....)

That image original size is 2000x1600. The link is misleading. Instead of failing because it is calling the wrong size, we serve the largest size.

They do look very similar in this case the x3large goes to 1600 wide by 1200 high.

I just checked the original from the server and it is much larger than the one that you are seeing. Sorry for the confusion.
