My Second Senior Session

I was very nervous about this session. The senior is my bosse's daughter. He is a great guy, but it is nerve wracking to have your boss for a client. Fortunately they were very pleased, but I am interested in your feedback. I want know how to improve. Thanks for taking the time to look and comment.

Wow! Very stunning series. The last one though is way to dark. 1, 3, 4, and 8 are my favs.

Very nice job indeed!! The only thing I "might" have done would be to slightly lighten her teeth. Beautiful work.

Very nice set. I really like 1, 3 & 8 (I assume those are her folks in the background and not random people). I like 9 as well, though sometimes I like slightly darker portrait images as well.

Thank you Trudy. The ones they order will be lightened, but I should have done that on the ones I posted here as well.

Hi Dave,

Nice work as usual.

1, 3, 5, 8 and 9 are my favorites. In 9, the flash looks a little low.

One correction you can try is to use levels and move the right slider left...and you might want to mover the middle slider a little left and the left slider a little right. Of course this will effect the entire image. In levels try 19, 1.11, and 187 as a starter and adjust from there. L-R. See what you think.

Thanks Jeff. It is Fort Macon and is at the southern end of the Outer Banks in NC. I have been dying to shoot there. I could never get my family to go and none of my clients requested it. Now that I have some photos to show, I will begin recommending it. How could you tell it was a fort?

I could tell necause I have been in enough of them to recognize the overengineered (for strength) brickwork.:D

My MIL used to live on Skitaway Island in SC. We toured one near there on a visit years ago. I don't remember the name, but it had very similar brickwork for the batteries and armouries. Near Savannah.

...and I know some folks have a fear of white attire for portraits.....

I think a lighter change of clothes could have produced some stellar results. A light khaki.....and or white perhaps. Then expose so that her features provide the strongest contrast in the frame. Think high key.......sorta....

I think it woulda worked great with the light colored brick and some pushed exposures. Something to at least consider next time you use that location....maybe:D

Thanks for the suggestion. I love your example. The fort is actually about five minutes from the beach I shoot at, so if I can talk some of the clients who want beach portraits to come to the fort they will already be dressed in white.

I think it would work great.......just PUSH the exposures!

No, he does not mind me moonlighting as long as it does not interfere with my day job. I have also ended up doing most of the photography for my employer, a hospital, in addition to my role as Director of Environmental Services.
