As you know, I believe we are our own worst editors. Here is a collection of 60 images that all have one thing in common - they are related to the theme of "family." A few of them - very few - actually need each other. But most stand on their own. I will eventually have to slash and burn and reduce these 60 images to 15 to 18. I am ultimately going to need to pare this group of images down to about 15 to 18 in total. So...Keeping in mind everything I have spouted off about up to now - the use of the frame, getting close, what photos are or aren't all about - do me a favor and vote "yeah or nay" for these images - keeping in mind that I am asking you to judge them not by your standards in terms of what you'd give to a client, or hang on your wall, but rather I want them judged by the standards I am always applying to your work, and the work of the photographers I point you toward. At this point I'd like to cut the 60 to 30. I've allowed for "comments," so in the Comments space just put a "yes" if you like the image and want it to make the first cut. (If you don't like an image, just don't bother to comment.) please sign the comment with your Dgrin.

Oh, and if you want to C&C generally, do it here.:D

Thanks for your help.

    Priorities for me:
    1) does it say family
    2) does it make me feel something
    3) the non-specific "do I like it"

    B. D., sorry I didn't read for enough to get to the whole "use the comments" thing. :D

I guess reading really IS hard. Anyway, if you want me to delete the images, lemme know, and I guess I could go back and comment....I just found it easier to cull my picks by previewing the post. It helps to see them all in a bunch, minus the tossers.

Done and done. There are some fantastic photos in there B.D. thumb.gif The range of emotion the set displays is of particular interest to me. It will be interesting to see the skew of the final set.

    Thanks And Take A Break
Thank you thank you! Based on your picks, and my daughter's - who works at the Howard Greenberg Gallery in NYC - I've cut the 60 to about 28. Also based on my daughter's advice, I'm going to add to the 28 this evening and tomorrow to end up not just with family photos, but with what I end up thinking are my all-time 15-18 best. Or something like that.
So stay tuned, and come back, say after 12 tomorrow, and vote again.

    Thanks!

I can't wait to see what's left, B.D. After you're done you should show us what everyone picked so we can compare notes! thumb.gif

Yeah, those damn captchas are pretty good for eliminating spam bots, but they also tend to reject anyone over 40 with less than perfect vision. How about we just respond in this post with a list of shot numbers that we like from the final set?
