Yellowstone Elk

Just got back from Yellowstone a couple of weeks ago. My wife and I had a very scary "Elk" encounter in the back country. Here is a picture of the beast just before he looked up....buggeled.....and chased us up the mountain. I thought I was going to die....he was bedded down 10 feet off the trail, fortunately I saw him before we tripped over him.

Wow. I have heard they can be really aggressive. We saw so many while we were up there and you just kind of forget because they seem so mellow.
