Here are a few shots of a , I believe, Red tail squirrel.

These were taken at a wayside rest off US Hwy 53 North of Virgina, Minnesota.

I am EXTREMELY new to Photography and am Looking for Critiques and Comments. The Photos were shot with my Canon EOS Rebel XS through a Canon 70-300mm AF zoom lens. I was shooting off-hand while resting on a picnic table at 300mm so lens aperture was 5.6

I guess I am just looking to see if I am on the right track. I have done tons of Race Photography this summer and am trying to expand my abilities.

Focus is soft on them.. looks as if your focal point was the rock. Framing of the critter is nice though. 300 handheld you have to be very steady, DAMHIK

Yeah, I was leaning on a Cement Picnic table to try and help steady the shot. I'm not sure who was more excited, the Squirrel or me(Hhahah). The Little guy was a character though. He would run from the rock to to tree about 20 yards away and come right back to the rock. I could actually watch him breath heavy and was trying to time the shot to his exhale end.
