Beauty Portraits: Zia @ Rama 8 Bridge (Made In Thailand Boot Camp Session 1)
This is the first set of many more to come from my Made In Thailand Boot Camp held in September 2009.
I have chosen one of my friends to be our photo model for this session. The basic idea of this set is to allow participants practise night portraits with multiple strobes lighting. I have chosen this location because not only it is one of the major monuments in Bangkok, it is also beautiful at night with its splendid illuminated suspension steel tensiles. Although all seems to be great that night, we did not get much shots done cos it started raining just when we were warmed up for some serious posing and shots. In the end, we all had to pack up and run for cover...
Have to apologize to the participants for not getting good shots that night...
Here are just 5 images to share.

Speaking of ART is USELESS if one cannot FEEL anything.

Hello Yuri. I totally agree with you about the light. Yeah, its time to use some soft boxes, more umbrellas and other light modifiers. Done these pictures way back in early September. I just bought a few light modifiers recently, should be using them soon.

Nikon 50/1.8, Tamron 28-75/2.8 1st gen, Nikkor 12-24/4, Nikkor 70-200/2.8 ED VR, SB600, SB900, SB-26 and Gitzo 2 Series Carbon Fiber with Kirk Ballhead
All these images were done with the equipment listed below:
Most of the shots were done using slow shutter speeds of about 1/15 ~ 1/30, cannot remember (you can download the images and look at the EXIF data). I want to balance between flash and ambient. Flash mode is definitely using Slow/Rear Sync Flash. Flash power is as low as 1/64 ~ 1/128. ISO is pretty high as well, if I did not remember wrongly.
The lights are placed in such a way that the main light mounted with a shoot-through umbrella at a flash power of about 1/128 ~ 1/64. The backlight is on another light stand, bare unti, about 2 meters behind the subject and a low power between 1/128 ~ 1/64.

Seems to me a blurred moon takes away from your subject but the suspension wires don't (go figure).
