Ya got me - I was a bit nervous about looking to see what this was.

Too bad there's no catch light in the horse's near eye - that would have really made the shot for sure.

There's something about the white hair on the flanks that bothers me but I can't explain what it is. Too smooth maybe? Too white?

    Love the pose!

yes, all i had was the on board flash.. i'll see what i can do with a few others i snapped. So is the stray white hair off his muzzle that you don't like ? wondering if this shot is worth spending some more time on.
Thanks for your input snowgril thumb.gif

Onboard flash may be the cause of the flat hair. It's the fact that the hair looks unnatural somehow on his sides - too flat.

The stray hairs on his muzzle are whiskers and should be there. The only time people remove them is on show horses sometimes.

What were you using for a camera / settings? If you have the option to up the ISO or open the aperture further, you wouldn't need the flash. Or, if you wanted to use the flash for some eye-lights, if it's moveable you could use a bounce card or reflector (piece of foamcore) or, if really desperate, you could diffuse the light with a white coffee filter taped over your flash - it actually works remarkably well.thumb.gif

Shot with a Nikon D50 with a cheapie sig 70-300 (f4 @ 1/250s), I adjusted the vibrance way down.. was going for more of a soft feel. I usually always leave my iso at 200, i'll have a nother crack at the post on this one and post it up.

I think so. The detail on the face is better - just the same flat hair on the sides that there's not much you can do about, I don't think.
