Going down the humor path this time. I need to do some desk arrangement (cleaner/messier (if that's even possible)), better shirt color (perhaps blue, not totally sure on that one) and play with the lighting options (perhaps tonight with less light, or just lit by the blue of the screen).

What say ye on the concept, BSOD -- Blue Screen of Death....

AHAHAHAAAA!!!! That's great! I wonder whether it might be more effective with a dark background - like you've been working into the wee hours of the night and then suddenly the BSOD appears.

    Man, I hated that thing.

Love the concept, but from the pic, not sure what is happening. In viewing it I am not certain that's what killed the computer user or if he just fainted or is asleep. Something more strong and somewhat gory?

In the movies and in TV, an image of what's on a computer screen seems to be back-projected and warped over people's glasses and faces without showing the actual monitor. A projection over a dead guy's face or body might work. Would be pretty difficult to pull that off, but might be possible with a presentation projector. Just an idea.

    Been there. Done that.

Your picture brings that sense of recognition that pulls the viewer in.

Aaron is probably right. It is a really good and creative idea for the theme. However a more interesting angle might give the picture that certain extra something and make it more competitive. I like Kinkajou's idea of a black (or darker) bg too. Maybe stylize it a bit more with less stuff on the table.

Work the idea and see what you come up with. This idea is worth the effort!!
If all else fails, enter it as is.

Thanks. This was just the prototype, so now I'll work on some other angles, lighting, etc.. The final entry will certainly be better than this...

I like the idea - but I'm with Aaron - I want to see a more dynamic angle

Just a question... have you ever encountered the blue screen of death in Windows? From your post it sounds like you are unfamiliar with this horrible blue screen of Windows past... perhaps you've been a Mac user from day one, or something even cooler like Linux. I don't think it happens so much anymore, but in the versions that came out in the 90s the computer would crash and you'd get this blue screen. At that point, the only thing you could do is cry, bang your head against the table, fall over as a result of complete and utter disappointment, and then restart. Very painful, but wasn't that rare.

I'd love to see the camera coming from slightly below the desk on the right, looking up at it looming large...

Great idea, but I agree with the others that you can wring more out of it. Have at it!

Yep, been there, done that. Given that I stopped paying attention to the computing side of things once we got to Windows 98 and they buried everything so far down the system that you needed to be a programmer to tinker with it comfortably, my "geek" period was essentially Windows 3.1 and 3.11 so I'm now flashing back in all sorts of ways!!! ( ah config.ini and autoexec.bat.... nostalgia... NOT! rolleyes1.gif)

Doesn't happen much but I did have it a couple of times when I moved to Vista x64 because the USB Sleep Mode didn't play well, and I could end up with this evil screen.

Diva, shy of remodeling my office space, I'm not going to get below desk level, but at near desk level (no room for tripod, so creative stacking)

I'm fonder of the way the light played out in the second one.

#2 for sure. What about "HOW many layers did I use?!", although I think something like "BSOD: A layer too far" would be good!!

    Love it.

Thanks. Pretty much SOOC. I had to darken the blue on the screen a bit, and crop.

OS stability is a good thing. I had a couple with Vista x64 with a USB driver problem (had to disable sleep mode, which is a bit of a bummer). Otherwise, it's been very solid. Started w/ Windows 3.1 back in the day... stability wasn't something that could be said for that.
