Is a Book Co-Op a good idea?

So I had this idea mulling around in my brain and well I think I have the opportunity to make it happen so I was wondering first what everyone thought. I have access to an office room in a building not more then 300sqft. I also have someone willing to donate me all the books I need in order to get my idea going. So what I was thinking was taking this room and lining the walls with bookshelfs and then filling the room with books, putting a table in the middle and hopefully a comfy chair in there somewhere. Then it would be similar to a bookstore except it is entirely on donations. So you can come in and grab a book and take it with you then donate money on your way out. A quarter, dollar, whatever someone is able to donate. Book donations are also entirely acceptable and wanted.

I am not as worried about making money because honestly I don't see it as much of a possiblity! I would like it to stay afloat however, I also am throwing around the option of sponsoring the room and getting access to it after hours for school, work meetings, or the like at a small monthly fee.

So mainly thats my idea, I suppose I just want to have a place with lots of books to manage. I would love to keep it low key, smaller, and with the donation / trade idea in mind.

Is that something you would visit?
