So I am shooting my first wedding as a 2nd shooter this weekend (thanks Angela!) - and my 40D was in repair so I rented a 5D just in case it didn't come back. Well, it came back... so I have 3 cameras to work with. The other is a 1D Mk II.

I know I'll be using the EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS on the 40D with a 580 EX on a bracket. My dilemma is that I will be shooting from the back of the church with a 70-200 f/2.8 IS. Should I mount that on the 5D or 1D II? Which will give me the best images? My initial thought is the 5D beats the 1D in most areas except FPS which I don't think will be my top priority.

What else should I be thinking about? Your insight is, as always, greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

OH, this is an easy one!!! Your thoughts about image quality over quantity is spot on. The 5D wins this contest hands down!

My three bodies are a 5D, 5D II, and a 1D II. If possible, I shoot everything with the 5D II looking for the best image quality. I keep a second creative lens on my 5D and around my neck at all times. The 1D II comes out of the bag for things like the ceremony where the autofocus speed blows the doors off of the 5D's. If there is enough light, it coupled with my 70-200 is my goto ceremony camera. Personally, I only like to shoot it at 800iso or below, so if its dark, I go for the IQ of my 5D's.

Agreed! LOVE my 5d and the only time I curse it's name is in terms of autofocus. If you have enough light use the 1dmkii for your action stuff but do portraits and high iso with that lovely 5d.
