The Bates Motel

Came across a dilapidated old farmhouse quite some time ago. Crawled in through a window and prowled around for quite awhile taking photos in the semi darkness. When I came to this stairway I half expected to see Anthony Perkins in drag wielding a butcher knife at the top. After much trepidation I climbed the stairs. I'll post the rest of the images in another thread.

    Hi Michael
It definitely was a spooky place with most of the windows boarded up there was not a lot of light in most of the rooms.

That is really creepy but very cool! How did you keep your camera steady with low light and shaking from fear? :D This gives a very hesitant but inviting feel! Can't wait to see the others.

I like how there is just enough light to give hints to the rest of the background areas. Very nice job!
Glad you opted to not take a shower while there....

I must say I hesitated a bit to go up those stairs eek7.gif partly for fear of falling through the floor and partly from watching too many horror movies as a youngster :D

    Hi Jack,

Very well done. A very pronounced, somewhat uneasy mood prevails.

That D700, with it's low light capabilities, is really paying off for you. Superb picture.

    Take care my friend,

    Tom
I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.

Great shot, Jack! Very moody and eerie. :yikes Anthony Perkins and Alfred Hitchcock would be proud. thumb.gifthumb.gifbowdown.gif

I have a request; could we see it in black and white?

The whole place was very creepy indeed. I can tell you I was indeed hesitant to climb the stairs but did so anyway. More to come.

Hah wait till you see the bathroom! This was taken at f/5.6 1/6 sec iso 3200 with Nikor 14-24 lens at 19mm. The SOOC image was very well exposed and showed almost all the stairs and walls but what I posted was more like how it looked to the naked eye.

Lee the while the B&W would be more in tune with the movie I much preferred the color version.
