I haven't posted here in awhile as I have been focusing on developing my landscape skills. However, now that I got this new faster camera, here are a few that I shot this morning in jpg since raw conversion is not yet available.

Sure it is. ACR for Lightroom and CS4 is fully updated and does 7D RAW. So does the Canon SW that came with your Camera :D

Andy...I thought ACR 5.5 was only beta for the 7D and not officially/fully supported? But you are correct that Canon DPP that came with the camera of course supports RAW.

Tucson's public park. Can you believe itrolleyes1.gif I got there at 6 AM before people flooded the place and spotted 3 BCNHs and 2 green herons. So when you guys all come down to shoot doors we can catch some birds as well.rolleyes1.gif

    Thanks Joel

    No CS4 yet

I use Aperture (another 1-3 weeks I'm guessing)

    Don't use Canon SW

    jpgs work for now

    Thank you John.

These were all shot with 300 f/4, Av, f/4, handheld, ISO 800, and on board external flash which was a first for me.

Nice work Dan and it looks like the 7D is working well too.

While visiting Harry this morning, I asked his opinion about adding a second body. He thought I would find it useful, hey he has three. And it's not his $1,699.

    Still thinking.

I sold my 50D and got the 7D which is noticeably faster. Very very sweet. I also bought the 5D2 for landscapes. If you can swing the cash, do it Jimdeal.gif

    How is Harry?

    Dan,

I am begining to believe I can really use a second body and keeping the 50D would be cheaper than buying a pair of 7Ds :D (but not as much fun).

When shooting the launches over at KSC/CCFAS I have been starting with the 1-4 tripod mounted but once you pull back to 100 you are stuck trying to get a longer smoke trail from the rockets. Without a "caddy" holding my lenses, changing to a shorter lens would be hard in the time available. Have not had this problem at Viera or MINWR but I have learned to shoot wildlife with one camera and just don't see the problem yet.

Have just added the 500 f/4L IS to my collection. I think putting the 50D on the tripod mounted 500 (for nesting & perched birds or rockets on the pad) and using the 7D for birds in flight (either type) with a zoom would be a workable method.

I like landscapes but right now I am just playing around at it. The 10-22 was a "Canon summer rebate" purchase and, while not as fine as the 16-35 or 17-40 on a 5D MkII, it is keeping me happy.

Harry is well but VERY BUSY right now. He said things should quiet down in the next few weeks. He has hopes of getting out to Viera (if the county has it open) and doing some shooting.

Terrific captures. Looks like you will have some fun with your new camera.

I'm fine, just busy. I finished the banquet and then had to finish processing 700+ images from the banquet since I was the official photographer for it as well as running the bloody show. Then I had the state convention and next week we have the grand opening of our new office. :whew

Once I get by that I only have a trip to San Diego, Thanksgiving dinner for 14 folks, and a cruise with the famly to deal with in the next 6 weeks.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

More keepers for sure, but I haven't used it enough to say for sure. The key test will be shooting BIFs.

    The AF is very cool.

    1. More focus points all cros type
    2. You can use single point or regions
    3. You can make the single point tiny or larger

and of course 8fps. helps as well.
