Photo Sharpness

Does anyone have any Smugmug specific tips for photo sharpness when uploading. I recently uploaded a photo that is noticably softer than when uploaded to different sites. I uploaded twice using two different upload pages here.
Also, is there a way to upload in vertical orientation. Every photo I upload comes up in horizontal mode - I'm thinking a bit of the softness is due to the site rotation method...
Thanks
John

PS - I know, different sizes, but I did try the same exact file and the same softness thing happened here.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply. It is a little bothering though, when you upload, and see a soft image, especially when smugmug says they do not change the image.
So, reading through the link page you gave. Sharpening is only applied to web viewing and when a print is ordered, the original is used without the sharpening applied.
Also, most photos look good, but it is just a few here and there that are noticably soft - Can you use the sharpening for specific photos or is it a gallery specific option? I don't want to start over sharpening most of the images in the gallery just to fix a small percentage.
I do understand that the photos are downsized and such for webviewing, but it is a little disconcerting when I cannot see what a client is actually getting. ...although, I know, you can always view the original. Hmmmm...
Thanks for the reply

Rotating issue?
I also uploaded another version at 60%...it's still way softer than the original.

Does anyone know why smugmug is totally softening this image when uploaded? ...and why just this one? Stuff like this drives me crazy. If I can't have any quality control because of the website, honestly, what good is the website?
...and honestly, doing something about it when they look like this would be to call and try and get my money back.

For a whole gallery, I'm sorry.

I suspect this to be a problem - Rotation, and the resaving of the jpg on SmugMug (or anywhere, it's not SmugMug-specific), will be lossless if the image dimensions are divisible by 8. Yours are not. That image is 2428x3683 and was rotated on 2009-10-18 at 14:42:27 SmugMug time.
Can you try it again, without rotating it?

I'll try it again Andy.
Thanks for the replies, and although I may come off as some pissed off a-hole, I'm just frustrated that I can't get the photo to look like I want it too, or more specifically, look exactly like it looks on my computer.
Thanks again,
John
