Need help setting up CNAME

I have a domain name xyz.net that I like to use for my Smugmug account. www.xyz.net is currently pointing to my hosting in GoDaddy and I don't to change it.

I followed the Smugmug insturction to create a new CNAME "photos" and A record. In addition, I changed the domain setting in Smugmug.

photos.xyz.net works fine and takes me right into my Smugmug site. However, www.xyz.net also takes me to my Smugmug site which is not what I want. :scratch

Can anyone please help me and point out what I did wrong?

I need to see your domain to figure out what you have done. Contact me on the help desk and I will take a look. You probably changed the www CNAME or turned on forwarding.
