help with sorting photos in a gallery

My photos end up in the order of 1..10..100..101 etc before photo #2 shows. I have tried everything I can think of outside of manually sorting a couple hundred photos.

Can anyone tell my what I need to do or what kind of filename I need to use to get the photos to appear as 1..2..3..

File names are alphabetic, not numeric. This means that all names starting with 1 will be before all names starting with 2.

If you want to use a number to sort an alpha field then you will need to pad the names with zeros. That is:

0001_photoa
0002_photoa
0003_photoa
0010_photoa
etc.

I usually order by date taken, but if you've gone through the trouble to rename your files I can see that you might want to use file names.

My file names are DSC_0001 etc. and they still get sorted by all 1's (1, 10, 100) before any 2's

How do you have the sort set in customize gallery?

In customize gallery, Look & Feel section - set the autosort by file name.
